In my blogs, I have criticized philately promoted by registered associations. And especially exhibition and competition philately. It is claimed to be only a small part of philately - but I claim that it is the cornerstone of the associations' activities. And all association activities ultimately aim to promote exhibition and competition philately, or at least to keep it alive today - if not to provide hospice care. When a significant number of association philatelists are approaching the end of their lives and recruiting young people fails time and time again. Of course, I could only calmly wait for the grandfathers to pass away naturally, and stamp collecting can then be practiced more freely, each according to their own taste, without some mystical philatelic tradition and corresponding rules.
